CA State Auto Insurance Prices Now Displayed for Car Owners Through National Search System

CA state auto insurance company pricing is now displayed to motor vehicle owners who use the tool at the Quotes Pros website at http://quotespros.com/auto-insurance.html.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2014

Special insurer rates are now available to discover for car owners in the state of California who use the Quotes Pros website. CA state auto insurance prices are now supplied by new agencies that appear inside of the formatted quotes system at http://quotespros.com/auto-insurance.html.

Companies that represent all 50 counties in CA are featured inside of the search tool to present the price structures that are offered for this year to car owners. The county-by-county searches that are available for the public are helped by a matching zip code procedure that takes place in the system.

"Any user of our system can connect with a number of companies that are supplying price discounts and other offers for insurance this year," said one Quotes Pros source.

The displayed pricing that is available when using the formatted search tool is linked to various policies that companies underwrite. The regular collision and liability formats that are popular with average drivers have been expanded to feature full coverage and SR22 options to allow easier price review procedures.

"It it easier to use our system to find insurers compared to a person calling a list of companies in order to learn pricing or available discounts," said the source.

The Quotes Pros company has initiated its price research system to help the public when deciding what policies to purchase from national companies. Because the system now extends to other states, term plans for life insurance and motorcycle insurance can also be reviewed while using the system at http://quotespros.com/life-insurance.html.

Oriental Insurance Company to pay Rs 45,000 in burglary case

Oriental Insurance Company Ltd has been asked by the Delhi State Consumer Commission to pay Rs 45,000 to a business firm, which was insured with it, for the loss suffered in a burglary.
New Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, comprising its judicial member S A Siddiqui, asked the insurance company to pay the amount, which also included Rs 15,000 compensation, to city-based Brisk Infotec Solutions, while dismissing the review petition filed against a district consumer forum's order.
The insurance company had moved the state commission challenging the forum's order directing it to pay the money for loss due to burglary in the firm's office.
The insurance company had earlier denied the claim while raising objections over the burglary.
While upholding the forum's order, the commission said, "This (the incident) is a clear-cut case of forcible entry in premises which is termed as burglary. Loss due to burglary is an insured peril under the subject policy and not under any exclusions, hence underwriters are liable to indemnify insured as per terms and conditions of the insurance policy."
The commission also noted that the drawer of the office was found broken and, thereafter, cash was stolen. It added that the forum's order did not suffer from any illegality or irregularity and deserved to be maintained.
The firm had earlier told the forum that it had taken a policy from the insurance company in May 2008 which covered the risk of theft of cash as well as goods and machinery among other perils.
In March 2009, a burglary took place in its office when some person trespassed and broke open the doors and Rs 1.23 lakh cash was stolen. Thereafter, the firm lodged a claim with the insurance company which was repudiated it.
The firm filed a complaint with the forum for deficiency of service on part of the insurance company.
The insurance company, however, submitted that the claim was rejected on the ground that under the terms and conditions of the policy, only loss of cash out of business hours was covered that too secured in a locked safe or locked strong room in the insurer's premises.
The district forum, however, had directed the insurance company to pay Rs 45,000 to the firm. Aggrieved by this, the insurance company filed appeal before the state commission.

Why Do So Many People Have The Wrong Kind Of Health Insurance

Of the 8 million people who obtained health insurance through the new (Obamacare) exchanges, how many still have their insurance? Apparently, the Obama administration doesn’t want you to know the answer to that question. It hasn’t released any official numbers since May. And it’s becoming increasingly clear why. Large numbers who initially signed up have since dropped out.

Previously I reported on Aetna’s estimate that by the end of this year they will have lost about 30% of their initial enrollees. Now there is a report of similar attrition out of Florida, which has apparently lost one fourth of its initial enrollees already.

So what’s the problem? In my last post I explained it this way:

“Many of the newly insured are obtaining health insurance for the first time in their lives. They don’t understand deductibles and copayments and they don’t understand why they should have to pay premiums when they are healthy – especially when they used to get care for free.”

But in addition to that, I believe there is a more basic problem: Obamacare is trying to force people to buy the wrong kind of insurance.

Stop and ask yourself why anyone wants insurance at all. In every other field, the answer is obvious. Insurance protects assets. Life insurance protects the value of human capital. Fire and casualty insurance protects homes, cars and other structures. People are willing to pay a premium to transfer the risk of a financial catastrophe to others. The same should be true in health care as well. Health insurance is a way of protecting one’s financial resources against the expense of a catastrophic illness.

But if you don’t own a house, you have no need for homeowners insurance. If you don’t own a car, you have no need for auto casualty insurance. Similarly, if you have no assets at all (other than your human capital) why would you want health insurance?

One way of assessing what people want and need is to look at what they get when they and their employers agree on a compensation package in the labor market. As I wrote last year:

McDonald’s. Home Depot. Disney. CVS Caremark. Staples. Blockbuster. These are just a few of the employers who have been offering mini med plans to their employees. A typical plan limits the health insurance benefit to $2,000. But McDonald’s, for example, gives employees the option to pay a higher premium and get $3,000 or $4,000 of coverage. Some plans have much higher benefits; for example, TennCare used mini med plans with a $25,000 annual cap on benefits.

Mini med plans typically have no deductible. They usually charge a modest copayment for physician visits and drugs. But if a McDonald’s employee goes into a hospital, the co-insurance rate is 30% and the plan’s benefit cap will probably be blown right through after the first 30 minutes of admission.

[Before continuing, let me say up front that the way mini med plans are structured is terribly wasteful. If we want them to work, we need to amend the HSA law and let employers and employees deposit $2,000 or $3,000 or even $5,000 in a Health Savings Account. Then, give the employee complete freedom of choice about how to spend the money.]

Affordable Care Act: insurance coverage has improved for young adults

Researchers analyzing the impact of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act have found that it has led to increased health insurance coverage among young adults aged 19-25. This increase has not been linked, however, with any significant changes in health care affordability or health status.
The study, published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, evaluated individuals' health, access to care and use of health care both before and after the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

The PPACA was implemented in September 2010, and part of its mandate was that insurance companies had to allow adults younger than 26 years of age to remain covered by their parents' health insurance policy.

Prior to this change, the authors report that nearly 1 in 3 young adults aged 19-25 lacked any form of health insurance provision. Since then, the percentage of uninsured Americans fell in 2011 - a decrease attributed in part to the expansion of insurance coverage among this age group.

While many have presumed that increased insurance coverage leads to positive health outcomes for the population, the impact of the PPACA on the health of young adults and their access to health care is unknown.

A team of researchers from the University of Washington in Seattle, led by Dr. Meera Kotagal, analyzed data from two nationally representative surveys in order to better assess the influence of the PPACA on the access to care and health of young adults aged 19-25.
Increased coverage

The researchers used data from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) and the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), comparing results data from 2009 with data from 2012. From these surveys, the researchers compared a cohort of young adults (19-25 years) with an older group (26-34 years).

The authors found that between 2009 and 2012, health insurance coverage for the 19- to 25-year-olds increased from 68.3% to 77.8%. For the 26- to 34-year-old cohort, coverage fell from 77.8% to 70.3%.

The researchers found that there was an overall decline in the likelihood of having a usual source of health care, but this decline was more pronounced in the 26- to 34-year-old participants.

From 2009 and 2012, there was very little change in health status between the two cohorts. The number of participants who reported receiving a routine checkup in the past year and being able to afford dental care, medicine and physician visits did not change significantly in either age group.

The study also found that individuals with health insurance coverage were more likely than those without to have a usual source of care, get routine checkups and flu shots and to be able to afford various forms of health care, such as dental care and prescription medication.
Important to 'address access and quality'

The authors state that their study "confirms that health care coverage for young adults has increased but that young adults do not report improved health status, affordability of health care, or use of flu vaccinations compared with their older counterparts."

The study is limited in that all of the data from the NHIS and BRFSS were self-reported and therefore may not accurately reflect the health of the participants. The researchers also question whether the comparison group of 26- to 34-year-olds was the most apt for the study.

"Understanding the PPACA's full impact on young adults may require focus on those who consume more health care, such as those with chronic disease," say the authors.

The finding that increased coverage has not resulted in improved health status for young adults aged 19-25 years leads the authors to conclude that "health policy must continue to address access and quality in addition to coverage."
